It’s just a pinch

By Maria Gregoriou

As tomorrow is World Marrow Donor Day and as the Karaiskakio Foundation has proclaimed September as Leukaemia month it is the perfect opportunity to go to the centre and give blood.

According to the centre, one in three Cypriots aged between 34 and 45 have already donated blood and are on record in the event that they may be called upon when a marrow transplant is needed.

This means that the centre already has 136,000 bone marrow donors on record, and up to now 317 donors have given marrow for a transplant to people from 26 countries.

For the centre to keep up the good work, as many volunteers as possible are needed and tomorrow is as good a day as any to become one.
