The finance ministry on Friday gave parliament a list with the names of Cyprus-based people and companies with deposits in Switzerland.
A copy of the so-called “Lagarde List” was handed over to House President Yiannakis Omirou.
Omirou said Parliament asked for the list as an additional safeguard that it would not be altered, as was the case in other countries where such lists were submitted.
He said that by requesting the list, parliament was not doubting that the authorities would be carrying out the necessary checks to determine whether tax offenses had taken place.
The list includes around 500 names of individuals and companies with deposits at HSBC Switzerland in 2005 and 2006.
A similar list was delivered to Greek authorities in 2010, but was kept in the drawers of the finance ministry until it was leaked to the media.
It was later found that then finance minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou had removed the names of individuals related to him from the original document.
