Cyprus Mail 70th anniversary archive uploads: the late 1970s

In the years after the invasion, the Cyprus Mail inevitably devoted many pages to the humanitarian and political crises that followed the events of July and August 1974.

But there were other important highlights too. One was the sudden death of Archbishop Makarios on August 3, 1977.

Another was the shooting dead of a former Egyptian minister at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia in February 1978 which led to a gun battle between Egyptian commandos and Cypriot national guardsmen at Larnaca airport.

New archive material is uploaded every Wednesday and Saturday. The archives can be accessed by clicking on the link beneath the Cyprus Mail 70th anniversary logo on the right of the webpage.
