Sexpectations comes to a stop

By Maria Gregoriou

The sixth Open House International Festival Of Dance and Performance, which is under the title Sexpectations this year, is coming to an end this week with three last performances.

Tomorrow you can catch the performance I Cure by Ivo Dimchev at the Rialto theatre.

I Cure is an interactive healing performance which can free the audience from all psychological or physical difficulties.

The limits of live performance is pushed as Dimchev – a showman who goes to extremes – will offer audience members opportunities for therapy.

On Friday and Saturday Elena Alexandrou will present her new work entitled In a Nutshell at the Vinegar Factory.

In a Nutshell is a piece that came out of research on gender, identity and sexuality. It attempts to embrace and expose thoughts and needs that we might all potentially share.

Get ready to get intimate with Alexandrou during this performance that brings together text and language, breath and tongue to invite us all on this journey of self-realisation.

The last performance of the festival will take place at the Rialto theatre on Sunday and is entitled Field by Tabea Martin.

Three bodies long for something to happen. They fight for love and recognition on a battlefield but the more time they spend together, the more they feel alone.

The pieces deal with issues that relate to adults, contain scenes of nudity and strong language.
