Corporate Social Responsibility commitment is not merely a part of the company’s culture, it is deeply rooted in the foundations of its philosophy and abiding pledge towards promising students from disadvantaged backgrounds throughout the world.
Ancoria Insurance was the main sponsor of a three-day seminar organised by Agios Spyridonas Special School for children on September 10 – 12. The seminar “Sensory systems and their contribution to learning”, was given by Alexandrou Stratos, a professional Ergotherapist with specialisation in Paediatric Ergotherapy.
The company’s charitable deeds span over two decades, spearheaded by Sievert Larsson, a Swedish national and highly accomplished entrepreneur. Larsson’s great appreciation for the education of young individuals and particularly their right to education was the driving force that yielded the Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation (“SLSF”) in 2007. A momentous milestone was when Larsson decided to donate all his shares of Ancoria Insurance Public Ltd to the Foundation.
Sievert Larsson stated “To me there is no better investment than the education of young individuals. Education will stay with the youngster for the rest of their life and can never be taken away. Brain power is mankind’s most valuable resource and should never be wasted.”
The SLSF has to date donated a dormitory for 500 orphans in Thailand, thousands of scholarships in Thailand and Cyprus and numerous donations related to children’s right for an education. In 2014, 1,200 scholarships were handed out.
The SLSF is the main shareholder of the newly established Ancoria Bank in Cyprus.
