Firms bidding for public jobs must declare criminal record, cabinet says

Companies applying for public tender will be asked to produce a certificate showing they have a clean criminal record under a new move approved by the Cabinet on Monday.

Up until now, that part of the documentation had remained blank but following the advice of the attorney-general, this gap in the law that allowed the not to declare a criminal cases should be closed.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Deputy Government Spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos said that the bill will would be filling the gap in current.

Papadopoulos stressed this was a step in the right direction in combating corruption and in the meantime regulated legal entities over the limitation period of offences.
