A 35-year-old man from Limassol suffered head injuries early on Saturday, after he was struck by a 30-year-old with a metal bar, a police report said.
According to the report, police received a report around 4 am on Saturday that a drunken man lay injured in a street in Limassol.
An ambulance was immediately despatched to carry the man to the Limassol General emergency room, where he was taken for a head scan.
But the 35-year-old had been uncooperative and would not stay for the results of his scan and was released against medical advice.
When the scan test results came out, it was found that he had sustained a skull fracture and a subdural hematoma.
The doctors immediately asked police to locate the man and bring him in for treatment, as his condition was deemed very serious.
CID members located the 35-year-old lying semi-conscious in his bed at home, and he was taken back to the hospital despite his protests.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to the Nicosia General.
Police obtained a statement from a witness that a 30-year-old man had been involved in the injury, and he was arrested and detained.
In a statement, the 30-year-old confessed to striking the 35-year-old twice with a metal bar.
Limassol CID continue to investigate the case.
