Police arrest Paphos rape suspect

Paphos police have arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged rape of a Dutch tourist, which was reported on Sunday morning.

The man, 25, denies the accusation. He was remanded for eight days on Wednesday by the Paphos court.

The 23-year-old woman said she was walking along Poseidonos Avenue at around 5.30am on Sunday on her way home from a night out, when a man rode up on a moped and offered to take her.

Instead, according to the woman’s statement, he took her to a remote area and forced her to have sex with him. He also took her bag with her mobile phone and credit cards, the woman told police.
