Arrests for bird trapping

A 26-year-old man from Sotira, Famagusta was arrested on Wednesday and several trapping devices of his were confiscated.

Police found six nets, 23 metal poles, eight dead birds, 54 live wild birds that were released, two car batteries, a car radio, a sound amplifier, a radio signal transmitter, two USB devices and a 30 metre cable in his field in Avgorou.

He was charged in writing and then released.

Meanwhile, a 66-year-old was charged and released after he was seen at his Avgorou field chasing wild birds illegally. A net of his was confiscated as was a sound mimicking device.
