Cyprus’s government is expected to test the markets with the issue of €1bn new government bond next week or the week after, a source familiar with the situation said.

“We expect that the government will offer a €1bn 10-year government bond,” the source said in a telephone interview on Thursday. “They are facing maturities next month and they still have an outstanding bond issued for the recapitalisation of Laiki”.
