Colour-covered charity run

‘Run in colour’, the global event which saw over two million people taking part in 2014, is being organised for the first time in Cyprus.
The charity run will start at 3pm on October 17 at the Enaerios seafront in Limassol.
It is a fun event, also known as ‘The happiest 5K on the planet’ as it includes a five km run or walk. The race is not timed and is for all ages and fitness levels.
At each kilometre, the runners are doused from head to toe in different colours. When they reach the finish line, they are covered in coloured cornstarch.
Another highlight of the event is a music and dance finish-line festival with DJ Jimmy D and OFF RADIO.
The Bank of Cyprus is the main sponsor of this charity event, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Child Cancer Unit of Makarios Hospital.
Each participant gets a kit, which includes wayfarer style sunglasses, a lightweight T-shirt, a colour pouch and a glow stick.
This event is already sold out with more than 4,500 people taking part. However, Daphne Prodromou from the Bank of Cyprus announced at a press conference on Wednesday that others are planned with the aim to cover all cities in Cyprus.
At the press conference, Loizos Loizou, the director of the paediatric oncology-haematology clinic at Makarios hospital said the proceeds from the event are much appreciated as about 35 new children with cancer are admitted each year.
