Economic, fiscal and social benefits of tourism outweigh environmental costs, report says

By Stelios Orphanides

In an attempt to improve the way tourism in Cyprus is measured -officially restricted to arrival numbers and contribution to economic output- a UK non-governmental organisation carried out a study to determine its impact on various aspects of life based on data made available by German tour operator TUI.

The conclusion is that the economic and social benefits from the operations of TUI Group in Cyprus outweigh the environmental and other costs.
