Two arrested after assault at GSP over ticket

Two men from Nicosia aged 50 and 25 were arrested early on Sunday after allegedly assaulting a steward at the capital’s GSP stadium on Saturday night befoe the APOEL-AEL match.

According to a police bulletin, the younger man had tried to enter the stadium with a children’s ticket but was stopped by a steward who spotted the con and asked him to leave.

Police said the 50-year-old then became abusive and he and the younger man attacked the steward using their fists, and causing bruising and abrasions. They then left the stadium.

Warrants were issued later on Saturday and the two men picked up for questioning on Sunday, police said.

Nicosia CID is investigating.
