Charity event a multicoloured success

A total of 6,000 people took part in the Run in Colour in Limassol on Saturday to raise money for children with cancer.

The fun event included a five km run or walk, during which runners were doused in colour at intervals.

By the time they reached the end they were covered in coloured cornstarch.

The purpose of the day, which also saw a finish-line festival with DJ Jimmy D and OFF RADIO, was to raise funds for the Child Cancer Unit of Makarios Hospital.

Major sponsors were the Bank of Cyprus, MTN, the University of Nicosia and Orbex. In all, 67 companies and 200 volunteers supported the charity event.

“We have introduced an international event to our country which aims to mobilise public opinion to support vulnerable social groups most in need while offering a unique colour experience for all,” organisers Lydia Zannettou and Nicholas Nicoli said on Tuesday, adding “we did it and we aim to organise the ‘Run in Colour’ in all cities of Cyprus and the Mediterranean.”
