Competition watchdog sees fuel cartel probe completed in 2016

By Nicos Kakouros

The chairwoman of the Commission for the Protection of Competition Loukia Christodoulou said that a sectoral probe into possible unfair competition practices in the fuel market, launched in late 2014, is expected to be completed in 2016.

“It is a large-scale probe, which includes all fuel companies,” Christodoulou told lawmakers of the finance committee today. “The commission’s staff is limited and therefore it is reasonable that it will take some time for the probe to be completed”.
