The government on Thursday confirmed that a member of the Central Bank (CBC) board has resigned.
Government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides confirmed reports that non-executive member Nicos Constantinou had submitted his resignation to the president.
Christodoulides did not comment further on the matter, according to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
It is the third resignation of a CBC board member this year following those of Stelios Kiliaris and Stavros Zenios in March.
Citing unnamed finance ministry sources, CNA said the government plans to appoint a new member immediately to prevent problems in the board’s operation.
