Man arrested for allegedly threatening his mother and damaging police station

A 28-year-old man allegedly attacked a police officer in Larnaca on Thursday night after causing damage to the police station after threatening to kill his mother.

According to police a 55-year-old woman went to the Larnaca police station asking for help because her son had threatened to kill her while they were in the car together.

Five minutes later, the 28-year-old son pulled up in front of the station and started to verbally attack his mother. When a police officer tried to approach him he fled but returned after ten minutes.

On his return, he hit the entrance to the police station with his car and damaged the gate, police said. When an officer tried to arrest him for causing malicious damage and trespassing, he resisted, kicking and pushing the policeman, they said. At the same time, he uttered threats against the officer but others stepped in to restrain the 28-year-old and arrested him.
