Around 200 speeders and 27 drunk drivers a day booked in the past month

Police clocked over 13,000 traffic offences islandwide between October 2 and November 1, just over 6,000 of which were for speeding, which works out on average at 200 speeders a day.

They also booked 805 people for drink driving out of around 9,500 alcohol checks during the same period – almost 27 people a day.

Police also carried out 4,296 checks on nightclubs islandwide during the month in which 1,356 people were booked for violations of laws relating to recreation centres, mainly smoking offences.

During checks on private security services offices, 225 people looked at and five bookings made for violations.
