Ayia Napa cuts rubbish disposal fees by 26%

Ayia Napa municipality is reducing garbage disposal fees for residents by 26 per cent with immediate effect, it was announced on Wednesday.

The municipality said it took the decision because of its good financial standing “which has been greatly enhanced by taking up management of sun beds and umbrellas on the beaches.”

“We decided to immediately reduce the fees for every primary residence by 26 per cent, from €162 to €120, a decrease of €42 per household.”

The municipality also assured the public that “efforts towards further reductions and benefits for residents of Ayia Napa will continue.”

The town took over the management of the beaches from private individuals at the start of this year’s season.
