Nicosia derby ends in draw

APOEL's two goal star Fernando Cavenaghi

The big game of round 10 of the league between arch rivals Omonia and APOEL ended in a 2-2 draw with both sides missing chances to grab all three points.

Omonia got off to the perfect start as Renato Margaca took advantage of a lapse in the visitor’s defence and slid the ball under the advanvcing Waterman.

APOEL were level in the 14th minute after Canvenaghi created space for himself outside the box and sidefooted the ball past keeper Panagi.

It was the same player who gave APOEL the lead in the 51st minute after some great approach play involving De Vincenti and Vander.

Omonia pressed forward in search of the equalizer and were rewarded 15 minutes from time when Sheridan converted a penalty after Waterman clumsily brought down Omonia’s Margaca.
