Reading words and paintings

Wednesday is set to be a day of culture with art historian, collector and writer Rita Severis talking about how we can read a painting and the AG Leventis foundation putting on its annual book sale.

Severis will present and analyse a painting from the CVAR collection. She will tell us all about how to understand works of art, from what the art work wants to tell us, what we should look for to help it tell its story, what this can teach us and, therefore, how we can appreciate and enjoy it better.

Before the lecture though, you can pick up a few books at the AG Leventis foundation in Nicosia, where the annual sale will take place.

Archaeologists, art historians, historians, students and book lovers in general will have the chance to select books from the foundation’s publications at a discount of 40 to 60 per cent.

All of the proceeds will be used to enrich the Museum’s collections and for the maintenance of new publications.
