‘Christmas Avenue’ in Nicosia

The volunteer group ‘Lefkosiazo’ and the Nicosia municipality plan to turn Makarios Avenue into a ‘Christmas Avenue’ from December 5 to January 2. The creation of a pedestrian area on a stretch of the avenue will enable them to host a number of Christmas events to revive the capital’s centre and provide Christmas entertainment for the public.
The avenue will be closed to traffic from November 30 until January 7. The all necessary measures have been taken to avoid any safety or other issues.
“We have taken into account the need for ambulances and fire engines as well as issues of parking and the supply and delivery of goods to stores and offices in the area,” they stated on Monday.
