Paphos attack suspect admitted to psychiatric hospital

A 24-year-old man who allegedly beat and seriously injured a Nepalese man, 30, at a bus stop in Statos in Paphos on Saturday morning has been admitted to the Athalassa psychiatric facility in Nicosia, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Sunday.

After he was arrested following the assault, the younger man was examined by a psychiatrist at Paphos hospital who ruled that he needed to be admitted to Athalassa.

The attack happened around 10am on Saturday. The beaten man was found by another passerby unconscious on the ground with serious injuries and called the police.
The Nepalese man, according to CNA sustained head trauma and was transferred to the Nicosia General Hospital.

Police managed to identify the alleged culprit and tracked him down and arrested him. He was reportedly at the time not wearing clothes or shoes and had injured his feet, but not during the attack.
