Church service request turned down

The Ayios Georgios church in Assia

A request to hold a liturgy at the Ayios Georgios church in the north was rejected, the Assia community council said on Tuesday.

The request, filed to the occupying forces, asked for permission to host a liturgy this Saturday.

“Despite the efforts, our request has not been granted,” an announcement from the council said.

“It will not be possible to have a liturgy and thus, the organised visit will not take place.”

Nevertheless celebrations in memory of Ayios Spryridonas would go ahead as planned on the eve of the celebration at the Archangelos Michail Church in Latsia.
