Man found dead near crashed car in Nicosia (Updated)

The body of a Romanian man, 25, was found in the area near the Grammar School in Pano Deftera, Nicosia, on Friday, following a car accident.

According to police sources, the man, a foreign national, took the car on a test-drive on Thursday afternoon, but never returned.

Police said the man lost control of his car at around 10 pm Thursday night in the Palechori-Nicosia road and crashed into the wall surrounding a house adjacent to the street.

The crash caused the car to overturn, and police unsuccessfully searched for the man’s body in or near the car.

The search was interrupted at around midnight due to poor weather conditions, and resumed on Friday morning.

The man was found dead at a distance from the overturned car.

Police are investigating whether the man was flung out of the car and killed due to the car crash, or whether, still alive, he exited the car in search of help but died before he could find any.
