Trapped woman freed from car  

One lane of the Nicosia-Limassol highway near Alambra was closed for about an hour on Friday while members of the fire service were trying to free a woman trapped in her car after an accident.

The woman was transferred to the Nicosia general hospital but she suffered no serious injuries, police said. The accident occurred at around 6.30am police said, but did not provide more information as to how it happened.

The fire service spokesman Leonidas Leonidou said that they used hydraulic rescue tools to free the woman.

The road is now open to traffic, police said.
