5,000 footballs for children

CHILDREN participating in this year’s grassroots championships were given 5,000 footballs by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) on Tuesday.

The gifts were handed over to the heads of football academies and coaches at an event held at the association’s premises.

“The CFA organises 175 matches in all provinces, and this year, the teams and children involved have doubled,” deputy president of the CFA Yiorgos Koumas said at the event.

This year’s grassroots competitions involved children from all over Cyprus aged 6 to 12 years. Seven championships have been held in Limassol, Larnaca, Nicosia, Paphos and Famagusta with the participation of about 400 groups.
