Where electric meets science

By Maria Gregoriou

The New Year almost always brings with it the motto ‘if you are not busy living you are busy dying.’ And in order to live life to the fullest it has to be somewhat electric to keep those life lines moving up and down. One way those lines could jump right outside the box could be with music, what music could do that you ask, well that which will be coming from Nicosia on January 5.

Get ready for your hair to stand on end – in a good way – because the organisation Alternadiva has invited musicians hosted by the Romanian electronic music label Understand to play at Klubd, and they have accepted.

The main names of the night will be DJs Cezar and Dubtil.

Cezar, from Bucharest, is an established producer and DJ, and also inspires many music makers to try out the techno path to wherever it may lead them. His cutting-edge sets are, without a doubt, energetic. He brings the new and the old together in such a way that techno and house music find a whole new vibe on the dance floor.

Dubtil, from Bacau, is a producer and DJ who doesn’t like to talk about himself so much, he prefers to let his music speak for him.

Dubtil, whose real name is Robert, created the alias for himself after deciding to follow a solo career while also remaining a part of the NoiDoi crew.

According to the event’s Facebook page, Understand will present to us “the idea that dance music is not only for the dancefloor; dance music can be the subject of a conscious or unconscious process of understanding written in a hidden binary language that some call science while other people dance; a secret lullaby if you will.”

The music of the night will surely be like no other lullaby you have ever heard, as it will keep you more than wide awake.
