Running out of time

By Maria Gregoriou

The Cyprus Trail Runners, an amateur sports team, are challenging everyone on Saturday to race against the clock.

Starting the year off with a plan to have such an event every month, the Cyprus Trail Runners invite anyone who would like to run a five or eight km stretch of beach to go along and enjoy the beauty of Larnaca.

The run will start at 9am from the tourist kiosk at Meneou. It might be a little cold to start with but as you get into the swing of things, you will surely warm up – and the sound of the waves will give you the right kind of rhythm to move your feet to.

If you have run with the group before, you will know that they are also the adventurous type, always up for exploring different parts of the island, and if you have not then they will “help you get lost in the outdoors.”

Make sure you do some warm-ups beforehand and maybe a few test runs because the clock will be watching.

Race against the clock over a 5km or 8km stretch of beach in the first of what will be a monthly time trial. January 9. Meneou Tourist Kiosk, Larnaca. 9am. Tel: 96-513539
