Strong winds uproot trees in Paphos (Updated with photos)

The fire service responded to 19 calls in Paphos to deal with fallen trees and other objects swept by the strong winds and torrential rain that affected the district.

The service said it responded to 19 calls between 5.15 pm on Thursday and 6 am Friday to clear trees, branches, smashed windows, tin sheets, and road signs.

Four crews were deployed in Paphos and one in the Polis area.

The winds did not last long but authorities are standby lest the weather worsened.

No serious damage was reported during the night. A power cut in the Ahelia community was quickly restored.

On Friday morning, police urged drivers on the Limassol to Paphos motorway to be extra careful due to heavy rain.
