Funeral of missing soldier

The funeral for a soldier missing since the Turkish invasion 1974 took place on Saturday after his remains were identified.

Georgios Pantelis Kolanis was buried at midday at Ayion Pandon church is Dherynia, his hometown.

Defence Minister Christophoros Fokaides also paid his respects.

Kolani was a reservist in the 31st commando squadron and was gravely injured on August 2, 1974 at Pendadaktylos.

Since then, he was amongst a long list of missing persons.

His remains were found at Kyparissovounos.
