Man wanted for drugs possession

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 30-year-old Limassol man wanted in connection with possession of around 144 grammes of cannabis.

The man was clocked doing 206 kilometres per hour near Zygi, on the Limassol to Nicosia motorway, in a car that belonged to his mother.

Officers flagged the man down but he failed to stop. Police chased and eventually intercepted the suspect who got out of the car and fled the scene after dumping a small plastic bag.

Officers searched the area but could not locate the suspect. They checked the bag he had thrown away and found that it contained one gramme of cannabis.

The car was taken to Zygi police station and handed over to the drug squad who searched the vehicle in the presence of the suspect’s mother.

Underneath the driver’s seat, police found a plastic bag containing 144 grammes of cannabis. Officers also found a joint in the front passenger seat.
