Police on Wednesday evening arrested three footballers in connection with an assault against match officials during a district game in Limassol.
The three AEM Moutayiakka players, all aged 26, are suspected of taking part in the attack against the referee and linesman during a game with Anagennisis Dieronas on Tuesday.
The incident happened just before the end of the game when the referee awarded a penalty for Dierona while the score was 2-2.
Some 15 people assaulted and beat the referee and a linesman before fleeing the scene, police said.
The two officials were treated in hospital and released.
