Five remanded in hotel theft case

Five people were remanded in custody for four days on Wednesday in connection with stealing €11,000 from the Famagusta hotel they worked in.

The case was reported to police on Tuesday by the CEO of the company that operates the hotel in the popular resort of Ayia Napa.

According to the complaint, between April 2014 and October 2015, the suspects – three women, aged 33, 36, and 38, and two men, 39 and 33 — who worked at the hotel’s reception, were stealing money from the sale of wi-fi cards and proceeds from late check-out payments.

All suspects come from communities in the Famagusta district.
