A Greek night to remember

By Maria Gregoriou

It will  be a very Greek night tomorrow at the Hustle Lounge Bar in Nicosia, where resident DJ Michalis Gemistos of Ola Ellinika Club in Athens will be coming over to give us one of the very best Greek Nights of our lives.

Gemistos took his first steps in the world of music at the age of 15, while playing at friends’ parties and other functions. The good feeling, which only music gave him, was the driving force behind his future career and the thread that tied him to a passion for giving everyone a chance to be part of a great party experience.

From small parties, Gemistos began his first professional DJ gig in 2009, when he was 17 years old, playing at the Amuze Café Bar in Piraeus. This led to further gigs in other cafes, bars, clubs, parties and at beach bars during the summer seasons.

Among the hot spots where he DJed, Gemistos performed at DJV Club, where his talent for spinning Greek tracks was very much in. And so his musical identity was born, and he has been mixing Greek hits on the decks ever since.

His talent, speed, unique way of playing and his electric chemistry with his audience were the factors that led him to becoming a resident DJ. This all happened in less than a year, in some of the most popular Greek-music spots in the Greek capital.

But just because the capital is where the Greek music scene is seen to be most at home, that doesn’t mean that this young DJ’s sounds have been blasted only there. Gemistos has also played throughout Greece and the Greek islands, and now he has us in his sights.

DJ Dino K, from Larnaca, will perform the opening set to warm us up for a night of a whole lot of Greek musical goings-on.

DJ Michalis Gemistos
Live performance by the Greek DJ. January 22. Hustle Lounge Bar, 3 Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue, Nicosia. 10pm. Free. Tel: 96-351834
