Stelios ups bi-communal awards to a record €500,000

THE Stelios Philanthropic Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2016 Stelios Bi-Communal Awards with the biggest cash prize yet, amounting to €500,000 for the winners.

“All forms of human cooperation between Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots are eligible including business, arts, sport, NGO work and life!” the foundation announced.

There will be 50 teams that could win €10,000 each compared to the 30 teams that won €10,000 each in 2015.

This will be the eighth year for the awards, started by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, easyJet and easyGroup in 2009. Since then , a total amount of €2 million was awarded to promote lasting peace on the island.

For the first time, applications will be submitted solely online via Facebook and Linkedin.

Each team member must have an account on the same social network as their counterpart and both should like or follow the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation on one of two social networks.

Past winners are always welcome to reapply, while multiple applications of each team member are also welcome with different members of the other community.

Each team member is also able to submit multiple applications with different members of the other community. The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in October 2016.
