Telling a tale through photographs

By Maria Gregoriou

Are you an amateur photographer who would like to get a few pointers on how to use your Smartphone to take some extraordinary shots that tell a story? On February 6 the Goethe Institut in Nicosia will give you the chance to do that during a two-hour free session.

The workshop will cover the basic techniques that you can use to capture great photos on your phone, while also letting you into a few secrets about how to use photography as a medium for storytelling.

If you have any photographs that you have already taken and plan to use them to tell a story, bring the photos – varying from seven to ten photos – along with you and this could be your project for the day. If you have not taken any photographs to do with a theme you would like to explore, then just write a paragraph up to 100 words, explaining the topic you would like to work on.

Pre-registration is required by sending an email to Elena Petrou on [email protected] or calling 22-674 608.

The Smartphone photography workshop is being organised as part of the Interactive exhibition Rethinking – Learning from Nature, which is currently running. The exhibition aims at raising awareness about environmental themes and at getting us to think differently about how we treat nature, while addressing the four elements – fire, air, water and earth.
