Elderly man charged after kicking dog to death

A 71-year-old man was arrested by police in connection with kicking a dog to death in Larnaca, police said on Wednesday.

The case was reported by the district officer of the Animal Party after a Miniature Pinscher was found dead in a rubbish bin at the Tsakkilero refugee estate.

Police managed to locate the perpetrator, a 71-year-old man, who claimed that the dog had attacked him while he was trying to remove him from his yard on Tuesday morning.

At that point, the man claimed, he kicked the animal, resulting in its death.

The 71-year-old was charged and released to be summoned at a later date.
