Warning over ground almonds

The health ministry is warning the public over ground almonds sold under the ‘Amalia’ brand as they contain higher levels of aflatoxins than permitted, increasing risks of cancer.

The warning concerns the 200g bag with a best before date of December 2, 2016, imported from America with batch number AP 336.

According to a ministry announcement, the company has already been informed to remove the products from the market however members of the public are called to avoid their consumption and return them to the place of purchase.

State lab tests showed the product contains higher levels of aflatoxin B1.
