Monday’s leaders’ meeting postponed due to Akinci illness

Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci

The meeting of the two Cypriot leaders scheduled for Monday has been postponed due to Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci coming down with bronchitis, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Sunday.

Citing the Anatolia news agency, CNA said Akinci would stay at home to rest.

On Friday night the government spokesman had tweeted that the leaders’ meeting was postponed because the chief negotiators needed to have a preparatory meeting beforehand, and that a new date for Akinci to meet President Nicos Anastasiades would be fixed during that session.

Anastasiades programme issued on Sunday at 9am by the government press and information office has the leaders’ meeting scheduled for Monday morning at 10am. It was later amended to say the meeting was postponed.
