After the completion of Write CY’s first round of creative writing courses and one-off workshops, for those who feel the rhythm of writing pull them towards learning more, a new programme is set to get the writers out there coming back for more.
According to director Max Sheridan the vision of the newly founded creative space is to give writing a stronger focus in the community and to find and encourage a new generation of writers on the island.
There is much to look forward to during the next two months. Former Cyprus Mail journalist Stefanos Evripidou will be using his experience from behind the writer’s desk and from the front-line of journalism to lead the six-week course entitled The Journalist’s Eye. So if you have always wanted to try your hand at journalism or if you would like to get Evripidou’s insight on the matter, then head on over and test how observant you are and if your curiosity has the potential to crack a breaking news story
But journalism isn’t for everyone. With the world of the net getting us our news in seconds, and marketing being done very much at the touch of a few keys, social media writing may be considered a very useful tool. Learn about how you can use Facebook to boost your online profile, build relationships, and strengthen reader loyalty with Marilena Zackheos.
And the list goes on from comic book writing, to book design, to script writing, songwriting and writing for children.
So, as you can see, if it can be written about, Write CY has probably got a workshop on it.
