Teen bikers injured in crash

A teenager is in critical condition and another one injured after they crashed their large motorbike in Peyia on Tuesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old and his 16-year-old passenger were riding in the Sea Caves area in Peyia when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.

From the impact the 17-year-old was critically injured. He was initially taken to Paphos hospital where it was found that he suffered multiple fractures. Because of the seriousness of his condition he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital where he underwent surgery.

He is currently in the intensive care unit.

The 16-year-old suffered a broken leg and was hospitalised in the orthopaedic department of the Paphos General Hospital.

The two youngsters who are permanent residents of Cyprus were not wearing safety helmets.

The accident comes just days after a motorcyclist was killed in Larnaca after his bike collided with a car.
