If you are a regular reader of this newspaper, poet Marilena Zackheos will be no stranger to you.
Although Zackheos is the director of the Cyprus Centre for intercultural studies and assistant professor of social sciences at the University of Nicosia, she is also a musician and poet – her two main passions.
She gives workshops at the new hub for writers in Nicosia, Write CY, she was also part of a new idea – for Cyprus anyway – called Last Night a Poet Saved My Life where published poetry was read out to music and her list of activities goes on and on.
But the creative process is always there to drive her poetry forward and now it is time for those of us who haven’t yet had the pleasure to get to know the poetry behind the woman who wears many creative hats.
She will introduce her poetry book Carmine Lullabies on Saturday at Prozac cafe. And don’t let the title of the book fool you, it isn’t exactly bedtime reading – but we will let you be the judge of that.
Poetry book launch by Marilena Zackheos. February 20. Prozac Kafeneio, Nicosia. 8pm. Tel: 22-104244
