Dining out for charity

The Karaiskakio Foundation will honour the bone marrow donors of 2015 with a charity gala dinner on February 29 at the Presidential Palace, during which Greek singers Stefanos Korkolis and Sofia Manousaki will take to the stage.

Korkolis started playing the piano at the age of five without having any prior lessons and is what some may call a prodigy. At eleven he enrolled in the Athens Conservatoire, and two years later he took part in an international piano contest and won first prize as well as a scholarship from the French government.

His first Greek album came out in 1990 and ever since then he has been performing in concerts, working with other famous composers and singers and also composing songs for a number of Greek artists.

Recently the composer and singer has been touring with Manousaki around Greece, performing songs by the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis.

Apart from touring with Korkolis, Manousaki is also preparing her first album, featuring music composed by Korkolis.

Tickets are available from the Karaiskakio foundation and all proceeds will go towards the financial support of the foundation, to help carry on the fight for a world without leukemia.
