Man arrested for possession of banned pesticides

Police on Friday arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of buying a large quantity of banned pesticides from the Turkish occupied north.

The man was arrested in Paphos at around 9.30am,

The pesticides found in his possession are not sold in the government controlled areas because they do not meet European Union specifications.

The suspect said he got the pesticides from an individual, which he refused to name.

Authorities believe he was planning to sell the pesticides.

The case is being investigated by police and customs.
