Sunday with the kids

Now with Christmas gone and the carnival season not yet upon us, we might have to look into how to entertain children a bit further, but not this weekend as Sunday is packed with storytelling adventures all over the island.

If you will be in Limassol, the Flautissimo Flute Choir will be joined by conductor Theodoros Krasides to present compositions that bring to life the story of The Soldier Who Became a Prince. While the flutes set the scene and atmosphere for the story, it will be narrated by Skevi Tsiakka in Greek.

Another musical fairytale will unfold in Famagusta when The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra will present the Allegro Vivace instrumental ensemble and actor Petros Georgadjis who will stage a musical performance of Alice in Wonderland.

The ensemble has given audiences in Nicosia and Larnaca a chance to visit wonderland so far this year, and now it is time for children from six to 96 in the Famagusta area to enjoy the story of young Alice and her adventures in a world she finds when falling into a rabbit hole.

Georgadjis will narrate the story as the ensemble will be directed by Yiannis Hadjiloizou.

Lastly in Nicosia, the Little Worry People Art and Drama Studio will be letting us into a theatrical adventure with a performance of Tarabouska.

Tarabouska is the story of a young man who leaves his home and sets off for a magical land in search of true love. On his journey – which starts in an airport – he learns the true meaning of friendship.

The performance will be mostly conducted as pantomime and is suitable for children of all ages, plus it gives us all a spoon full of optimism to help us consider the notion that love really could conquer everything.
