Designer sunglasses worth thousands stolen in smash and grab (Updated)

Hundreds of designer sunglasses worth around €30,000 were reported stolen from a shop in Limassol on Tuesday after four men in a van drove it through the glass front.

According to police reports, the break in occurred at around 4am. CCTV footage showed four men with their faces covered entering the shop after getting out of the van.

State broadcaster CyBC reported that the alarm went off but that it took the perpetrators just over a minute to fill the cardboard boxes they brought with them, which they loaded into the van and fled the scene before police arrived.

This was the second time the same shop was robbed. Last November, thieves again stole sunglasses worth tens of thousands. The merchandise was insured.

Police estimate that this was the job of an organised ring, since other similar shops have been targeted in the past.
