Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides

The third ministerial meeting of the Mediterranean Group (Med Group) will take place on February 25 and 26 in Limassol, it was announced on Wednesday.
Med Group was established following an initiative by Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, and it constitutes an informal coordination and consultation group comprising the seven Mediterranean member states of the European Union on issues of common interest.
The foreign ministers of Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain and France’s European affairs minister will attend the Cyprus meeting. A working lunch will also be attended by the secretary general of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Fathallah Sijilmassi.
The Med Group’s deliberations will focus on security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region, with particular emphasis on the situation in Syria and Lebanon. The ministers will exchange views on recent developments in Libya and the actions of the EU to address terrorism and migration in the wider region.
The meeting will conclude with the adoption of a joint communiqué and news conference. (CNA)
