A musical bouquet of sounds

The multitalented Greek singer-songwriter, performer, TV presenter and writer Kostis Maraveyas – or as he is known by his fans Maraveyas Ilegal – will rock the stage in Nicosia on Friday and in Limassol on Sunday.

The musician began his music career in Italy where he studied Statistics and Maths at the University of Bari almost 20 years ago. What has statistics got to do with it? Well while he was studying he also took piano harmony lessons at the Conservatory Niccolo Piccini of Bari.

These lessons led to him playing with groups such as Yamas and X Darawish, which combine a variety of musical styles. Clearly influenced by the people he was hanging around with, Ilegal started bringing together Mediterranean and Balkan elements, arrangements and jazz pieces.

In 2001 he returned to Greece to become a solo artist and in 2003 he released his debut album Radiopiratis.

This album was followed by three more, making the musician a name to follow within the Greek music scene.

This artist really can do it all with his accordion, piano, guitar, Hammond organ, and farfisa close at hand, singing in Greek, English, Spanish and Italian. So expect a very lively musical evening and be prepared for Ilegal to take you on a musical journey back in time and around the world.
