Germany-Cyprus relations discussed

The bilateral relations between Cyprus and Germany were discussed on Tuesday between Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides and German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth, on the island for a two-day visit.

The ministers also discussed ways to further enhance relations both at a bilateral and European level.
In the meeting, which was also attended by Greek Cypriot negotiator on the Cyprus problem Andreas Mavroyiannis, Kasoulides briefed Roth on the latest developments in the negotiations process for finding a solution.

According to an official press release, Kasoulides and Roth presided over official talks between the two countries, followed by a lunch hosted by the foreign minister in honour of the German minister and his delegation.

They also discussed the issue of migration and developments in Syria that are currently the focus of the European Union’s agenda.

Roth also met Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa in the occupied areas according to Turkish Cypriot media.

Chief negotiator Ozdil Namil as well as Baris Burcu, spokesman for Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, also sat in on the meeting.

No statements were made afterwards.
